Jamie Records was founded in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1956 by Harold Lipsius. Jamie was named for the daughter of Allen Sussel, a legal client of Lipsius. Duane Eddy was the defining artist for the label, recording hit after hit in the late 1950s and early 1960s. He single-handedly turned Jamie into one of the most successful independent labels of its day.
A comprehensive history of Jamie Records and its associated labels can be found on the Jamie/Guyden Website.
