Strand Records (USA) was an American budget label, launched in spring 1959 in New York City as a subsidiary of Canadian media company Consolidated Frybrook Industries. The label released plenty of low quality albums across all genres until 1965. It was originally distributed by Decca.
Strand Records (Germany) was a subsidiary of German Teldec (Telefunken-Decca), founded in 1976. The label existed until 1983 when Teldec's parent companies, German Telefunken and British Decca Records, withdrew from their joint venture and the Strand label was discontinued. Teldec eventually became part of Time Warner and is now owned by Warner Music Group.
