Sky Records was a German progressive label, started in 1975 by Günter Körber after he left Brain/Metronome. The label became an important force in the late 1970s in a genre that Körber called "schwebende Musik" (floating music): German electronic music, ambient and Krautrock. Körber was able to sign several former Brain artists to his label, most notably Cluster just as they began a successful collaboration with Brian Eno, Thirsty Moon, and Michael Rother shortly after his departure from Neu! and Harmonia.
Other artists that were recording for Sky included Streetmark, Straight Shooter, Bullfrog, Octopus, and Ramses. Both Dieter Moebius and Hans-Joachim Roedelius of Cluster released solo albums and collaborations on Sky.
Sky Records was active with new album releases until the late 1980s, with reissues and CD releases until the late 1990s. German label Bureau B re-released some of the Sky catalogue on both vinyl and CD. Günter Körber died in November 2013.
