Metro Jazz was a jazz subsidiary of MGM Records, founded in 1958. Despite big plans by its parent company, the label was closed again within a year and only about 15 albums were released in total. Some of those LP's were re-released by MGM-owned Verve Records in the early 1960s.
MGM started another subsidiary named Metro Records in the mid-1960s. Although that label also issued some jazz albums it was a general purpose budget label and unrelated to Metro Jazz.
