Karussell was a Swedish independent label, founded by Carl-Gustaf Niren and Simon Brehm in 1952 under the name "Karusell." The label was also operating in Denmark, Norway, Finland and Germany in the 1950s. Those international businesses were separated in the early 1960s and the Scandinavian entities disappeared by 1970.
The German label was sold to Deutsche Grammophon and "Karussell" was then used for the next two decades to release budget priced albums across all genres on the German market. The label is still active today, owned by Universal Music, but used only for children's albums and audio plays.
