Etiquette Records was formed in 1961 by bassist Buck Ormsby and his Fabulous Wailers band mates, Kent Morrill and Lawrence "Rockin' Robin" Roberts. The label was based in The Wailers' hometown of Tacoma, Washington - original 1960s Etiquette pressings will have a Tacoma address on the label. The Wailers released four albums on Etiquette between 1962 and 1966, and the label also started the recording career of The Sonics, whose first two albums were issued by Etiquette Records.
After The Wailers' break-up in 1969, Buck Ormsby revived the label multiple times, for both re-releases or re-compilations of old material and new music from the Pacific Northwest. The label is still active today.
