Coed Records was founded in 1958 in New York City by George Paxton and Marvin Cane. Paxton was a successful big band leader in the 1940s, and he produced many of the records on Coed, which were primarily East Coast Doo-wop group style. Coed's biggest acts included The Crests, The Rivieras, The Duprees, The Harptones, and Adam Wade.
Coed Records released many singles, but only six albums between 1960 and 1963. Coed Records' final singles were released in 1965.
