Acrobat Records was founded in 1977 by Chris Youle, formerly Managing Director at RSO Records. After a bunch of independently distributed single releases, the label signed a five-year licensing deal with Arista Records in early 1979 and started releasing albums. The first of those was Chappo, the solo debut of Roger Chapman, formerly lead singer of The Streetwalkers and Family.
Acrobat released only half a dozen albums in 1979 before it was closed at the end of that year.
