Nasco was launched in 1970 as a subsidiary of Nashville, Tennessee based Nashboro Records. While Nashboro was primarily a gospel label, Nasco was its attempt to get into the pop market and several hippie/psych bands were signed in 1970/71.
The print run of Nasco's releases was very small and the label was also late to the scene, so Nasco never really turned into a commercially viable enterprise. Most of its eight album releases command high prices on the collector's market today for their quality production and content.
