Jazzland Records was founded in 1960 as a subsidiary of American jazz label Riverside Records. It was originally set up to re-release older Riverside recordings priced one dollar less than the parent label's releases, but quickly evolved and put out original albums by artists such as Cannonball Adderley, Chet Baker, Junior Cook, Clifford Jordan, Harold Land, Thelonious Monk/John Coltrane, Paul Gonsalves, Sonny Red or Nat Adderley.
