Gull Records was a British independent label started in 1974 by Derek Everett, Monty Babson and David Howells. Babson was co-founder of Morgan Records and Morgan Sound Studios in the late 1960s, one of the most important British studios where acts such as Ten Years After, Yes, The Kinks, Donovan, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Paul McCartney, Jethro Tull, Rod Stewart, Black Sabbath and The Cure would record albums.
Gull is most famous for launching the career of Judas Priest, who recorded their first two albums for the label. Gull Records was distributed by Decca Records (1974-1976), Pye Records (1976-1980), and PRT Records in the UK, and briefly by Motown in the United States. The label was closed in 1984.
